Austex Fabrics Warehouse Named A Finalist in the 2015 PCA’s Innovation & Excellence Awards
POSTED April 27, 2015
The 2015 Innovation & Excellence Awards organised by the Property Council of Australia will be announced on Friday the 1st of May at the Gala Awards Dinner, held at the Star Event Centre in Sydney. CHT Architect’s Austex Industrial Fabrics Warehouse has been shortlisted as a finalist for the ‘LJ Hooker Commercial Award for the Best Business or Industrial Park’. The Austex Warehouse has also been entered into the 2015 Victorian Architecture Awards and the 2015 Master Builders Association of Victoria Awards. The development’s innovation can be seen in its unique response to the client’s needs, ensuring that the warehouse acts as a purpose-built facility. While combining the client’s office space with their fabrics showroom a visual connection was necessary as well as flexibility internally. An abundance of natural light is harnessed throughout the interior, essential when working with materials for colour matching purposes. Concerns over the highly flammable nature of the fabric, were also considered as where ESD measures relevant to the brief and the site. The client’s own fabric was used in an engaging feature piece upon entry to the building, reflecting the client’s core business and visual identity. A high standard of design distinguishes the development from the surrounding context, establishing a new approach to conventional warehouse design.
